Abstract Background Anastomotic leak is one of the major complications following oesophagectomy and associated with a prolonged ICU hospital stay high mortality. Over years, endoscopic vacuum therapy (EVT) has an evolving role in managing anastomotic leak. The aim this study was evaluate our experience use EVT Methods A retrospective analysis conducted patients who underwent elective at tertiary centre from May 2021 to April 2022. Combined Endoscopic Transanal Vacuum-Assisted Rectal Drainage: A Novel Therapy for Colorectal Anastomotic Leak after TME for Cancer
Introduction: Low colorectal and colo-anal anastomosis leakage after anterior resection of rectum occurs in up to 24% of cases. Leak is the main cause of morbidity and mortality in postoperative period and can result in a permanent stoma in up to 25% of cases. Loop ileostomy or colostomy does not reduce the percentage of fistulas, but reduces flow rate. Conservative management imply long times ...
متن کاملEarly Diagnosis of Colonic Anastomotic Leak With Peritoneal Endoscopy
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES At present, we do not have a reliable method for the early diagnosis of colorectal anastomotic leakage (AL). We tested peritoneal flexible endoscopy through a port placed in the abdominal wall in the early postoperative course, as a new diagnostic method for detection of this complication and evaluated the suggested method for safety, feasibility, and accuracy. METHO...
متن کاملA Novel Technique for Managing Pancreaticojejunal Anastomotic Leak after Pancreaticoduodenectomy
Pancreaticoduodenectomy (Whipple's procedure) remains the only definitive treatment option for tumors of the periampullary region. The most common and life-threatening complications following the procedure are pancreatic anastomotic leakage and subsequent fistula formation. When these complications occur, treatment strategy depends on the severity of anastomotic leakage, with patients with seve...
متن کاملUse of pericardium to repair anastomotic leak after esophageal atresia surgery; experience with one case.
Diverse therapies for the management of anastomotic leakage after esophageal atresia repair have been reported with various outcomes. The surgical management of anastomotic leakage after esophageal atresia repair can be challenging. We present a child with long-gap esophageal atresia and anastomotic leakage repair with pericardium. This article aimed to illustrate that pericardium may be a subs...
